Relationship between functionality and quality of life in women with peripheral lymphedema

Introdução: O linfedema periférico é uma condição crônica e incurável que causa inchaço, inflamação e pode levar a infecções, prejudicando a qualidade de vida e a funcionalidade do indivíduo. Objetivo: Investigar a relação entre funcionalidade e qualidade de vida em mulheres com linfedema periférico, tanto de membros superiores quanto de membros inferiores. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo observacional do tipo transversal realizado em mulheres com linfedema periférico. Foram utilizados os questionários SF-36, DASH, Lymph-ICF-LL e a Escala Visual Analógica de Dor. Os dados foram coletados, tabulados em uma planilha do Excel e, posteriormente, analisados estatisticamente. Resultados: A amostra do estudo apresentou idade média de 59,2 anos e predominância de linfedema em membros inferiores. Em relação à comparação entre o grupo de pacientes com linfedema em membros superiores e o grupo de pacientes com linfedema em membros inferiores, foi observada diferença significativa nas variáveis peso e IMC. Além disso, em pacientes com linfedema periférico de membros inferiores, foi constatado uma correlação moderada negativa entre funcionalidade e qualidade de vida. Conclusão: Infere-se que, em pacientes com linfedema de membros inferiores, à medida que o linfedema aumenta seu impacto na funcionalidade, a qualidade de vida diminui.
