Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.Author Guidelines
Publication Rules The Revista de Saúde Coletiva da UEFS (RSC da UEFS) is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Collective Health of University of Feira de Santana (UEFS) and publishes quarterly, by rolling pass system, scientific articles related to population health, organization of health system services and related areas. Papers must be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, and submitted to the UEFS Portal after registration of the responsible author. The RSC da UEFS approves the use of appropriate guidelines in writing any health research manuscript. General guidelines can be obtained from the EQUATOR Network website [www.equator-network.org]. Compliance with these basic requirements contained in the guidelines will greatly improve the value of submitted manuscripts and may facilitate the peer review process and the chances of eventual publication.
Submitted works must comply with the UEFS RSC rules and will be evaluated by the journal's editorial board, and may be or have: 1) accepted; 2) required revisions;

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SHIPPING
The works to be appreciated by the editors and reviewers will follow the order of receipt and must comply with the following presentation criteria.
1. They must be submitted through this portal after registration of the responsible author for the submission, who must be the first author or one of the co-authors. That is, when registering, do so in the role of AUTHOR, otherwise the system will not allow the submission. Address for submission: http://periodicos.uefs.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/index
This journal follows the recommendations of the EQUATOR network - Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research. This network's website (http://www.equator-network.org/) contains guidelines for various types of study. For systematic reviews, PRISMA (http://www.equator-network.org/reportingguidelines/prisma/) and MOOSE (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10789670) are indicated. For observational epidemiological studies: STROBE (http://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/strobe/); and for qualitative research: SRQR (http://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/srqr/) and COREQ (http://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/coreq/).
2. When starting to fill in the fields, do not use the field with the form of address (Mr., Doctor, etc). Ignore this field. And don't forget to write the name and e-mail of ALL authors correctly, in the sequence you want it to be published, as this is how it will appear in the journal and in all article indexing systems. It is recommended to use up to six (6) authors per paper. Exceptionally, up to eight (8) authors may be accepted, provided that this number is justified in the cover letter. We remind you that co-authorship implies a significant contribution to the elaboration of the article and not just participation in some stage of the research. All authors must be aware of their inclusion in the work. This is the responsibility of the first author and the UEFS RSC disclaims liability in cases of violation of this good standard of research conduct related to intellectual honesty, including issues of plagiarism.
3. The system will ask to attach the abstract, the abstract and the references. When placing the references, check that all the links are active and that they are correctly formatted, because if they are not, the system will not recognize them. Leave a space between each reference so that it can be better viewed on the site. Then check and see if they are all correct.
4. The body of the work must not contain the identification of the authors, as it has already been done in the system. The pages must be formatted in 1.5 space with a margin of 3.0 cm on the left, 2.5 cm on the other edges, Times New Roman font, size 12, standard page A4, numbered in the upper right field. As supplementary documents, the following must be inserted:
1) a letter of introduction to the editors stating that the work is original, and has not yet been published. It must inform the origin of the work, whether it is a research (title), thesis, dissertation, or course conclusion work, whether or not it has funding. The letter must also contain an assignment of publishing rights;
2) In the case of original articles, attach the research approval by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) in accordance with the rules of:
RESEARCH ETHICS
Work that has involved research involving humans or other animals must be accompanied by a copy of a document attesting to its prior approval by a research ethics committee (CEP), in addition to the reference in methodology.
3) Cover sheet with the following items:
- Title of the work in the principal languaje followed by the second and third language:
For exemple:
Portuguese, English, Spanish
English, Portuguese, Spanish
Spanish, Portuguese, English
- Full name of the authors, in the sequence placed in the system, with numbering in subscript (not for inserting a footnote) corresponding to the INSTITUTION, only.
Example:
Marcelo Torres Peixoto1, Peter Household2
1 – State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil
2 – University of Essex, Essex, United Kingdom
If the work is accepted for publication, the tables, graphs, figures and other information maybe be requested by the evaluators to be sent separately.
For submission, some requirements still need to be met:
ARTICLES
First sheet: start with the title of the work in the first, than second e third language. For exemple: Portuguese, English, Spanish, without reference to authorship and add an abstract of no more than 200 words in the three languages.
Keywords (three to six), in the three languages must be extracted from DECS vocabulary (Descriptors in Health Sciences/ http://decs.bvs.br/). If the article is presented in English or Spanish, the abstract in the second language must be in Portuguese.
Second sheet: Title of the work without reference to authorship and beginning of the text with paragraphs aligned in the right and left margins (justified), observing the sequence: Introduction, including justification and objective(s) in the last or penultimate paragraph; Methodology; Results; Discussion (if any); Conclusion; and References. When there are acknowledgments, they can be placed between the references and the author's address.
Charts, tables and figures of a maximum of six (6) must be placed in the body of the text after the paragraph in which they appear cited for the first time. In the graphic editing phase for preparing the PDF, they can be moved according to the judgment of the person responsible for this stage and the Chief Editor.
GRAPHICS AND FIGURES
The files of tables, graphs and figures must be sent (if the work is approved or by request) in independent files. These files must be compatible with a “word for windows” word processor (formats: TIFF, PNG or JPG with a resolution of at least 300 DPI). The number of tables, graphs and, especially, illustrations must not exceed six (6). Tables, graphs and figures must be numbered in order of appearance, with Arabic numerals and cited (e.g. “...in Table 2, the measurements...”), or in parentheses (Table
2). The Tables must not be closed on the sides, while the Tables, yes, must close, with vertical lines, the sides.
The title must be objective and place the reader on the content, typed after the number of the Table, Graph, or Chart, without a period. Figures reproduced from other published sources must indicate this condition in the SOURCE (Source 10). Prepared by the authors from the literature review. When variables in a table are grouped by blocks, they must be left indented by 0.3. The title of tables and charts comes before, while the title of graphs and figures must come after, seconds of the Data Source. Thus:
Table 1. Distribution of the number of publications in the period from 2001 to 2012 (Times New Roman 12)
Publication period n %
[2001 - 2003] 11 12
[2004 - 2006] 14 15
[2007 - 2009] 25 27
[2010 - 2012] 21 22
[2013 - 2015] 23 24

OBS: the lines of the table of the example are unconfigured because the system does not support this type of configuration. See examples in recent published articles.
Figures must have the title above like that:

REFERENCES
Preferably, any type of work submitted (except review article) should have up to 30 references. References in the body of the text should be numbered in superscript, after the word or author's name and without spaces, consecutively in the order in which they were first mentioned in the text. In the case of citation of up to three lines, the page or sequence of pages (eg: 4-6) must be placed after the reference number followed by a colon, as shown in the following example: Nursing Workers (NT) - nurses, technicians and assistants - inserted in the provision of health services, perform activities that require physical proximity to the patient, in addition to handling various materials and equipment. Thus, they are susceptible to a series of risks that can result in Work Accidents (AT)1. According to article 19 of Brazilian Law n. 8,213 of July 24, 1991, the work accident is defined as one that "occurs by the exercise of work in the service of the company" [...] "causing bodily injury or functional disturbance that causes death or loss or reduction, permanent or temporary, the ability to work”2:10. Commuting accidents are also considered TA, that is, those that occur while commuting between home and work.
References should appear at the end of the work, listed in order of citation, following the rules proposed by the international committee of Medical Journal Editors available at http://www.icmje.org or www.wame.org/urmport.hotm
They must be prepared following the format proposed by the International Committee of Biomedical Journals, known as the Vancouver Group.
