Objective: To identify the symptoms of nomophobia and associated factors among university students. Method: This is a retrospective integrative review on symptoms of nomophobia among university students in the health field, between 2016 and 2023. Results: First, 18 articles were selected, from a base of 1,370, which addressed a positive association relationship between symptoms of nomophobia and mental disorders such as: anxiety, depression and stress, poor performance in academic activities, lack of support network, problems related to sleep, social media and as a risk factor for the development of symptoms, females have a higher prevalence. The average prevalence of nomophobia among the selected articles was 61.72%. Final considerations: Further research is recommended with other epidemiological study designs in order to evaluate this scenario to better understand the factors associated with nomophobia, as well as carrying out an implementation at the institutional level of public policies to encourage the conscious use of smartphones among university students.
