Guidelines for Authors

Sertane - Journal of Applied Social Sciences of DCIS/UEFS aligns its policies with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. It is committed to editorial impartiality, manuscript confidentiality, rigor in combating plagiarism and scientific misconduct, and similarity verification through anti-plagiarism software. Publication is free for authors and readers, with no submission or article processing charges (APCs).

The maintenance of research integrity and its presentation is supported by the observance of the rules of good scientific practice, which include:

  • The manuscript must not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.

  • Data, texts, or theories from third parties must not be presented as if they belong to the author(s). Proper credit must be given to other works, including material that is copied verbatim, summarized, and/or paraphrased.

  • Excessive and inappropriate self-citation, or coordinated efforts among authors to increase their own citations, are not permitted.

  • Authors must ensure the correct order of authorship at the time of submission. Changes regarding authorship during the review process are not allowed, except in justified cases. The reasons for such changes must be explained in detail. After the manuscript is accepted, no changes to authorship can be made.

  • The submitted work must be original and not have been published in another journal, in any form or language (partially or fully). It is permitted for the work to have been presented at scientific events and to feature additional content resulting from the feedback received. In this case, authors must mention the name of the event and the year it was presented in the "Comments for the Editor" field.

  • The results must be presented clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

  • Declare the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript preparation process at the time of submission, as established by CNPq Ordinance No. 2,664, of March 6, 2026.

  • The complete manuscript must have between 6,000 and 8,000 words, including all elements. Furthermore, it must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) and structured, in its entirety, following the standardization, formatting, and writing style guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition.
