In this report, an inventory of Asilidae from five geographical areas in the state of Bahia is made. These areas are Northern, West and Southwestern Bahia, Chapada Diamantina, Recôncavo, and low lands of the coast. The samplings of Asilidae were made with an entomological net, malaise traps and light traps. The specimens are deposited in the entomological collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (MZUEFS). A total of 436 specimens of Asilidae were collected. Out of the eleven Asilidae families known to the world, eight subfamilies were collected in Bahia: Apocleinae, Asilinae, Dasypogoninae, Laphriinae, Leptogastrinae, Ommatiinae, Stenopogoninae, and Trygonomiminae. Thirty-three genera, 34 species and 29 morphospecies were identified. Twenty-seven genera and twenty-seven species were registered for the first time in Bahia. The genus Tipulogaster Cockerell, 1913 is a new occurrence to Brazil, besides the species Dasyllis albicollis Bigot, 1878. This work is pioneering in the study of the richness of Asilidae in Bahia. The identification key to the genera of Asilidae in Bahia is proposed.
