New records of Mallophora species (Diptera, Asilidae) from Bahia State, Brazil

Abstract

In this article an inventory of the genus Mallophora from Bahia State was carried out by surveying the specimens deposited at the Museum of Zoology of the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (MZUEFS). Prior to this study, only three species of Mallophora were known to Bahia: M. atra Macquart, M. calida (Fabricius), and M. barbipes (Wiedemann). In the present study, four species are reported for the first time for Bahia State: M. aeca Williston, M. leschenaulti Macquart, M. nigrifemorata Macquart, and M rufiventris Macquart.
