Abstract
This article analyzes the inaugural speech of Javier Milei (Argentina, 2023) through the lens of Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980; 2002), investigating how metaphors cognitively structure political thought and reinforce persuasive strategies. The research, qualitative and interpretative in nature, identifies and categorizes conceptual metaphors that map concrete domains, such as war, body, and disease, onto abstract concepts of economy, crisis, and power. The analysis shows that the use of these metaphors guides public understanding and contributes to the consolidation of political identities and the ideological legitimation of Milei’s discourse, demonstrating the central role of metaphorical language in the symbolic construction of political power.
