Literatura bicha, mercadoria e fetiche: notas para uma crítica materialista da razão literária

Abstract

This text problematizes the notion of “Brazilian LGBT+ literature” as an identitarian, disciplinary, and market-oriented category, interrogating its mechanisms of legitimation and exclusion from a materialist perspective. The essay positions itself against the sacralization of the literary as a neutral or autonomous instance, conceiving it instead as a device within the ideological and affective apparatus of capital. Drawing on an althusserian critique of the literary as a technology for reproducing the subject-form, it proposes a shift in focus, from “LGBT+ literature” to the analysis of sex-gendered fictional discourse, highlighting its role in shaping visibility fields and regimes of enunciability. Interweaving oral memory and conceptual dispute, the text claims silence as proletarian inheritance and writing as a gesture of symbolic guerrilla, denouncing the ritualistic functioning of literature as an institution that operates through the exclusion and domestication of dissidence. Rather than cataloging authors or works, the text defends opacity, impropriety, and contradiction as dissident epistemological tactics capable of confronting knowledge hierarchies and the affective-ideological devices that uphold bourgeois imagination. Against pacifying hope, it proposes writing as a machine for silencing, not to suppress, but to suspend authorized discourses and open space for other modes of listening and existing.
