Construções adverbiais temporais [XMENTE]: uma proposta de análise a partir da Linguística Funcional Centrada no Uso

Abstract

 This study aims to analyze the temporal microconstructional patterns that constitute the more schematic pattern [X^MENTE], seeking to establish the extent to which the different adverbial constructions of time identified are distributed along a continuum of intersubjectivity (TRAUGOTT; DASHER, 2005). To achieve this goal, the theoretical framework adopted is Usage-Based Functional Linguistics, as outlined by Furtado da Cunha et al. (2013), Rosário and Oliveira (2016), and Bispo and Silva (2016), and, more specifically, the constructional approach to change proposed by Traugott and Trousdale (2013). From a methodological perspective, the analysis is grounded in a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies for the treatment of usage data, as defined by Cunha Lacerda (2016). The analysis draws on two complementary corpora: (i) a contemporary synchronic corpus compiled by Martins (2021), which brings together ten profiles from the social network X (formerly Twitter), with samples representing the years 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, totaling 1,677,627 words; and (ii) a corpus composed of videos taken from the online platform YouTube, organized by the authors from vlogs and informal interviews from an open television program, covering the years 2019 to 2024. Based on the data collection and subsequent analysis, five temporal adverbial microconstructional patterns that compose the more schematic pattern [X^MENTE] were identified, distributed along a continuum of intersubjectivity, primarily according to the aspectual notion presented by Travaglia (2016).
