This text introduces Volume 3, Issue 4 (Jan.–Jun. 2025) of Baraúnas: Journal of History, an electronic journal edited by the Post-Graduate Program (lato sensu) in History of Bahia at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), whose editorial mission is to disseminate historiographical knowledge broadly, with particular emphasis on the history of the state of Bahia. It briefly revisits the three dossiers previously published (two in Volume 1 and one in Volume 2) and frames the launch of a fourth dossier—Economic and Social History of Sugarcane Brazil (16th–19th Centuries)—as a new phase marked by the beginning of the journal’s internationalization process. Organized by Silvana Andrade dos Santos and Augusto Fagundes da Silva dos Santos, the dossier brings together five articles aimed at analyzing the importance of the sugar economy in the economic, social, and family dynamics of different Brazilian regions between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The presentation also notes the inclusion of a book review of A trajetória da cana-de-açúcar no Brasil: perspectivas geográficas, históricas e ambientais (Rodrigues and Ross, 2020) and five open-topic articles, concluding by highlighting the bilingual (Portuguese/English) presentation of the issue’s contents as an indicator of quality and as an editorial step toward international circulation.
