Flora of Bahia: Leguminosae – Sophoreae (Papilionoideae)
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.13102/scb11605Abstract
The taxonomic treatment of the tribe Sophoreae (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae) in the state of Bahia is presented in this work. Sophora tomentosa is the only species recorded for the region, occurring exclusively in coastal restinga and mangrove habitats. Its moniliform fruits, shaped like a string of beads, are diagnostic of the species. We provide detailed morphological descriptions of both the genus and the species, along with flowering and fruiting records, taxonomic comments, illustrations, and a geographic distribution map of S. tomentosa within Bahia.
