O condicional reportativo no processo de construção de ponto de vista e mudança de perspectiva em discursos políticos do português brasileiro

This article analyzes the reportative conditional as a grammatical device for expressing viewpoint and perspective shift in political speeches of Brazilian Portuguese. By proposing to broaden the functional scope of the reportative conditional, the study integrates cognitive aspects into its description, once it adopts the deixis-cognitive distinction by Vandelanotte (2019) to investigate the construction of viewpoints and how perspective shifts occur in the emergence of the use of the reportative conditional; the relationship between the deictic structure and the perspective of the discourse context; and how deictic and cognitive perspectives differ in the contexts under analysis. The data originate from a corpus composed of Records of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies and Federal Senate. The results demonstrate that the reportative conditional, by allowing the dissociation of the speaker from the conveyed information, constructs a viewpoint that, while deictically anchored in the speaker, shifts the cognitive perspective to another, thus confirming it as a strategic device in the construction of discursive viewpoint and perspective phenomena.
