As redes construcionais [(X)[Morrer SN]] e [(X)[Acabar SN]], seus subesquemas e microconstruções: uma análise à luz da Linguística Funcional Cognitiva

Abstract

Abstract: Based on the theoretical framework of Functional-Cognitive Linguistics, in particular, on the Usage-Based Construction Grammar model, this article proposes to carry out a synchronic analysis of the argument structure constructions [(X)[Morrer SN]] and [(X) [Acabar SN]] in Brazilian Portuguese (BP), from uses extracted from the Corpus do Português platform, strictly, in the period that comprises the year of 2019 (Souza Gomes, 2024). Given that this work focuses on a phenomenon related to argument structure constructions, we are also based on classic studies prior to this one on the verb-subject order, mainly with regard to the issue of informativeness. As a hypothesis, we started from the idea that the emergence and direct storage of specific argument structure patterns [(X)[Morrer SN]] and [(X)[Acabar SN]] is the result of frequency of use of the [(X)[V SN]]_FOC construction associated with the verbs [Morrer] and [Acabar]. The existence of micropatterns with more specific and idiomatized formal and functional properties It was also postulated, which would be associated with the aforementioned patterns, also due to their frequency of use. Furthermore, it is argued that these patterns and micropatterns are organized in the form of taxonomic networks that exhibit attributes of form and function inherited from the more abstract scheme [(X)[V SN]]_FOC, mainly in terms of informativeness. Through qualitative data analysis, it was possible to identify micropatterns underlying the patterns in question, all of a semantic nature of completion, constructional knowledge stored in the BP speaker's mind.
